Resources: Parent/Family
“Parents and Family” has become a difficult group to define because of the increasing breakdown of family as a result of economic and social pressures and disease. According to a 2016 UNICEF report, there are approximately 143-210 MILLION orphans worldwide. That is about two-thirds of the population of the United States! For these children a “parent” might be an aunt, a grandparent, friend, orphanage, refugee camp or other. In fact, in the United States (though I believe the numbers in other countries will be equal or worse than these) less than 46% of our children live in a traditional family environment as compared to the 1960’s when 73% of children lived in a traditional family environment.
Therefore, the Matrix refers to “Parents and Family” as those people who are our first guide, regardless of a specific genetic relationship. They create our first learning environment.
